Lillian x Essex Puppies at Five Weeks

Five weeks is a fun age for puppies. They are just starting to eat well. They get a formula of instant rice baby cereal, a small bit of Karo syrup, evaporated milk mixed with warm water! Yummm. The puppies get this 3 times a day, with fresh water, and of course mom. Gradually we add some puppy food to the mix but if you add too much too soon they won't eat it. They are also starting to play with their toys and with each other. A little more coordinated now they can start chasing each other. Ryan plays with them in the evening. He lays down and lets them crawl all over him and nibble on his ears, hands, etc. They are doing great with their paper training and are almost 100 percent.

Next week they can go outside on the deck for a new adventure!

Lillian Litter Moving Day!

The puppies graduated today to their new quarters in the puppy room. They will begin to eat solid food and play with toys. There is a separate space for them to potty and they will be paper trained in a few days also. A puppy bed will be in their new space for them to share. Ryan set this all up and Lillian was a bit anxious at first, but she will be with them too as we let the mom's do all the weaning here. So, gradually they will eat puppy food more and Lillian will get more free time.

Here are the three puppies boys on each side of their sister in the middle! Ryan is the transport.

GCH. Foxfair Rudy Valentino and GCH. Keenorth All About You Haiti Announce a Baby Boy - Ace!

How ridiculously romantic can you get? First they meet in New York City at the Westminster Dog Show where they were both competing for Best of Breed.  Then afterwards they stayed overnight in at a hotel in Manhattan. The next morning he bought her breakfast and off they went, she with Elizabeth Fortino to her home in Michigan and he to his New England home with Heather Myers in Connecticut. It was only a one night stand but two months later there he was - a singleton boy - Ace! The breeding is being repeated in August, 2014 - so maybe we will see some more puppies like Ace and one of them will be the long awaited Girl!

Someone asked me who Ace looks like, he is definitely a very nice combination of his mom and dad. Here is picture of Rudy at eight weeks so he is a about 4 wks younger than Ace but you get the idea.

Is it just me or is there something about that tongue and the sassy look in the eyes~

KCA National Specialty - Foxfair Puppy Boys Take Home The Ribbons!

The puppy boys did their parents, Lillian, Ch. Foxfair Silent Screen Star, and Essex, GCH. Foxfair Essex, proud. Coming in to the KCA National in Asheville, NC, one, Can. CH. Foxfair Shoot for the Stars, aka Bilbo, owned by Judy Eliot already had his Canadian Championship. They all placed in their respective classes. Then, Player, Foxfair Cara Screen Play, and Galaxy, Foxfair the Astronomer, marched into the ring for Winners having won their respective classes.

Player, to the right is being shown by Sue Kite, and is co-owned with Heather Myers, to the left is Foxfair the Astronomer being shown by his co-owner/co-breeder Jeanne Buente.

There was more excitement to come though, when judge Marcy Zingler pointed to Jeanne and Galaxy for Winners Dog and later Best of Winners!! What a load to loot to haul home between trophies and ribbons!

Ann Miller and Foxfair Motzart's Star, had already won a major coming in to the National, Motzart along with most of his litter mates had dropped his puppy coat but still managed to place in his class. It was great to see him - and find out he remembered me - even though he had not seen me since he was 8 weeks old!

The same was true for Judy and Bilbo, Foxfair Shoot for the Stars, more pics of Bilbo and Judy Eliot later!
